When can I sign up for lessons?
Anytime! We host lessons year-round, and welcome students to join us anytime there is a spot available. We believe that a consistent approach to swimming is important for skill development and water safety awareness. Our lessons are hosted in 4 seasons to allow for slight schedule adjustments with changes in weather, school/extra curricular schedules, and upcoming holidays/events,  but for the most part remains consistent.

Why do I need to give a 30-day notice before withdrawing from a class?
Advanced notice helps us to maintain smooth operations including  pool space allocation, instructor scheduling, class adjustments and notice to waitlisted families. The 30 days required is a minimum to the last class you would be in attendance.

What do I need to bring on my first day of lessons?
We have all lesson equipment onsite, all you need to bring is your swimmer’s personal items such as bathing suit, sun screen/swim shirt, goggles, towel and swim diapers for little ones. Swimmers with long hair are encouraged to tie their hair back or wear swim caps.

Does my child need to wear a swim diaper?
Swimmers 3 & under and any students not completely potty trained, should be prepared with reusable, double-layered swim diapers. We have reusable swim diapers available on deck for purchase if you’ve forgotten yours at home! See here for more info: DOUBLE DIAPER POLICY.

Will my swimmer be warm enough?
Lesson pools are heated to a toasty 86 degrees and students will spend a good portion of their lesson actively moving to avoid any stagnant chills. Some smaller students enjoy wearing wetsuits or swim shirts in the chillier seasons – we offer child friendly wetsuits to try and purchase on deck.

Are parents/guardians required to stay on location during the lessons?
We strongly recommend parents stay on deck for young swimmers, particularly those that need assistance for bathroom breaks. If you must leave during lessons, please be sure to return a few minutes before your student’s class is over to ensure safe and timely handoffs, the next class can’t begin until your swimmer is returned to your care!

Do I need to get in the water with my swimmer?
Outside of our ‘Parent/Child – Lobster’ classes, parental participation is not required. Guardians of timid swimmers are welcome to bring a swim suit if they believe their student would benefit from additional in water support while acclimating to the new class setting. Please be sure to check in with LSA staff so we can prepare accordingly.

My swimmer is nervous around water / new faces, what can I expect?
Instructors prioritize building trust with fearful students through playful and meaningful interactions. They encourage underwater exploration by demonstrating and creating fun & engaging activities that teach lip closure and water acclimation. Instructors will never dunk an unwilling student underwater. It’s always helpful to note your concerns during registration so we can connect to discuss strategies and update their instructor as needed.

Do you offer make-ups for missed swim lessons?
We do not offer make-ups in exchange for missed lessons. We find that they are disruptive to both our instructors’ schedules and students’ progress and ask that you commit only to days/times that you will be able to attend consistently on a weekly basis. This not only helps us respect our instructors’ time, but drastically increases swimmers’ skill retention.

How do I change the date and time of my lessons?
Email us at info@legacyswimacademy.com with your updated schedule flexibility and we’d be happy to help you find a new class schedule that works. We can waitlist students if the desired classes are not currently available, but it is expected that students attend their regularly scheduled lessons until a transfer can be made.

What happens if my favorite instructor is moved to a different lesson time?
Sometimes our instructors need to change lesson times to accommodate their personal schedules. However, we can assure you that all of our instructors undergo a thorough hiring and training process. You can trust that they’re all fun, patient, and more than qualified to ensure the safety of our swimmers.

When do we get billed and how often?
Our consecutive weekly swim lessons are billed monthly. Each month you will be billed for the number of lessons your child swims. For example, if your lessons are on Mondays and there are 5 Mondays in the month, you will be charged for 5 lessons at the per lesson price shown on our pricing page. Each payment is processed on the  25th for the following month’s lessons offered. You can view your balance through the Parent Portal, fees are are processed by LSA administration and cannot be submitted manually through the portal.

What happens if lessons are cancelled due to rain or weather?
Legacy Swim Academy reserves the right to cancel all, or any portion of a swim lesson due to weather, acts of God, or any other reasons within or beyond its control. Any cancellation made under 24 hours to the start of the scheduled swim lesson will be charged to your account.

Does Legacy offer programming outside of weekly swim lessons?
Yes! We always hope to see students who complete our lesson program to transition into our Recreational Swim Team ‘Tuna Squad‘. Places an emphasis on a fun team environment while addressing endurance and technique needs. Perfect for new swimmers looking to foster their love for the water or those not quite ready to commit to a club.
